Our Team
Our Lady of Walsingham Academy has a well-qualified and experienced team of authentic Catholic educators to serve our students. All our faculty take a public Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. They are carefully selected not only for their ability to teach in their academic specialties but also based on a commitment to the broader Catholic intellectual tradition and a demonstrated record of living the Catholic faith in their vocation.

Mark Langley
Headmaster
Mr. Langley’s long career in Catholic education began at the Trivium School in Massachusetts, the first Catholic classical high school in the country, where he taught for 12 years and served as academic dean. In 2003, he founded The Lyceum in Cleveland, a highly regarded Catholic preparatory high school. Mr. Langley also spent two years in curriculum development for Advantage Schools, Inc., a school management company assisting 20 charter schools serving 10,000 students around the country. Mr. Langley holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas College and a master’s degree in systematic philosophy from Holy Apostles College and Seminary. His devotion to sacred music has motivated him to found several adult and youth choirs in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Ohio. He enjoys writing about Catholic liberal education on his blog LionandOx.com. He and his wife Stephanie are the proud parents of 12 children and the grandparents of eight grandchildren.

Andrew Rossi
Athletics Director/Liberal Arts
Mr. Rossi teaches philosophy, medieval history, Latin, theology, medieval literature, Euclidian mathematics and drama. He also co-chairs the school’s house system. A graduate of Thomas Aquinas College, Mr. Rossi began teaching theology, history, and mathematics at St. Augustine Academy, a Catholic classical school in Ventura, California. A year into teaching, Mr. Rossi began a Master’s program in scriptural theology from St. Augustine Institute where he completed his thesis on prime matter and the importance of understanding Aristotle's physics. Mr. Rossi loves studying St. Thomas Aquinas and can be found playing soccer, football, or golf in his free time. A life-long Catholic, Mr. Rossi loves how rooted the Catholic faith is in nature and divine revelation, and how the rituals and prayers help bring him closer to a relationship with Jesus.

Rocky Brittain
Dean of Students/Theology
Mr. Brittain teaches literature, math, history, Latin, philosophy, and theology. He received his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas College and a master’s degree in theology from Ave Maria University. He has taught at St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix and his favorite authors include St. John Henry Cardinal Newman, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Aristotle. He also loves watching college and professional football. He and his wife, Caitlin, look forward to training their three young boys in both philosophy and football.

Carmela Gibson, Ph. D.
Mathematics and Science
Dr. Gibson teaches biology, chemistry, physics, and astronomy. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and her doctorate in molecular genetics from Washington University in St. Louis. After publishing papers and teaching undergraduates in the lab and classroom, she stepped away from academe to home school her children using the Mother of Divine Grace curriculum, which increased her love for classical Catholic education. Recently, Dr. Gibson completed a certification program through the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia. She enjoys camping, hiking, and gardening. She and her husband, John, have five children and one grandchild.

Major Mark Pokorny
Calculus and PreCalculus
USAF Retired Major Mark Pokorny is a 1986 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He is a command pilot with more than 4,200 flight hours in the B-52, NATO AWACS, B707, T-37, and T-38 aircraft. In 1996 he earned his master’s degree in computer science studying artificial intelligence techniques focusing on genetic algorithms and neural networks. Maj. Pokorny taught calculus at the Air Force Academy and the USAF Academy Preparatory School. Since retiring from active duty in 2006, Maj. Pokorny has worked in the software industry. He and his wife, Karin, have five children.

Mary Langley
Greek, Latin, Algebra, Art, Literature and Writing
Miss Langley teaches Greek, Latin, algebra, art, literature and writing. She received her Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas college. When she is not teaching she enjoys directing a woman's schola singing gregorian chant on weekends. Miss Langley enjoys classical and music of the baroque especially Bach.
